I hear a lot of people say "oh I don't like water, water is boring or I can't drink water".
Really, really you can't drink water up to 60% of an adult body is water, drinking water is a natural act what do you mean you can't drink water?
Suck it up princesses pull up your big people pants and just drink water!
Sorry but it's a ridiculous concept that you can't drink water it's like breathing air as far as I am concerned you were made to do it!
Motivation didn't work still complaining about not being able to drink water?
OK so try this cinnamon tea!
Steep one stick of cinnamon in a coffee plunger or teapot overnight.
Pour water in a bottle and leave in the fridge.
Use in very, very small amounts I put 25ml to 50ml into a 2-litre container, you just want a hint of flavour here not too much as it can be overpowering and then you won't drink that either.
Cinnamon is known to have some very beneficial health properties:
• Antioxidants - polyphenols protect our bodies from free radical damage.
• Anti-Inflammatory Properties
• May Cut the Risk of Heart Disease
• Improves Sensitivity to the Hormone Insulin
• Lowers Blood Sugar Levels and Has a Powerful Anti-Diabetic Effect
• May Have Beneficial Effects on Neurodegenerative Diseases
• May Be Protective Against Cancer
• Helps Fight Bacterial and Fungal Infections
You can read all about those here authority nutrition
Of all of the medicinal effects cinnamon is known to have the one's that interest me the most are cinnamon's ability to control blood glucose levels and increase sensitivity to insulin, these two factors are known as markers for diabetes both 1 and 2 and contribute to obesity having better control of these factors may contribute to better health.
Be aware that these benefits require the consumption of a half a teaspoon to 2 teaspoons of cinnamon a day, which is a lot of cinnamon and as cinnamon is gritty in texture it will make you cough if you try to eat it or drink it in the required amount. And according to the research, the type of cinnamon makes a difference to as one can be toxic in large doses the other not so much.
The cinnamon we buy from the supermarket is the one you need to consume in smaller doses, as you will be drinking this on a daily basis it is my recommendation that you invest in the better quality cinnamon I have included the link for you to purchase it from.
Will you see any difference in your blood glucose levels from drinking cinnamon tea, well you'd have to measure that with a meter and track it over a period of weeks both before consumption of cinnamon tea and whilst consuming the tea to really be able to tell, make yourself a little test subject and make your own mind up from there. I will neither deny nor confirm that it makes a difference at this point as I am in the process of testing the theory on my daughter and myself what I can confirm is that when you drink the tea IF you have just a hint of the flavour it tastes good and does make you drink more water, so that's a plus in my book.
Another plus is that cinnamon smells great and makes your breath smells good too.
Now listen to your tummy here as well for some people the cinnamon tea will be too strong and you may make you cough, give you stomach cramps or diarrhoea, if you know that the level of water you are now consuming is a lot more than you used to drink you may also notice a change in frequency and amount of faeces you are now evacuating. Unless there is pain, blood, pure liquid or complete change in colour, texture, smell etc this may just be an adjustment to drinking more water. Please consult a doctor if changes in stools continue for any length of time that you determine to be of concern to you, that means if it worries you go get it checked out bowel cancer is a preventable disease and like most cancers early detection is key.
Update: I have received my ceylon cinnamon and it is much subtler than the cinnamon I buy from the supermarket, I brought powder and sticks from the link below as I add cinnamon to my coffee, every cup always have like that cafe feel with my coffee. Normally I do cough a bit with the woodiness of the "supermarket" cinnamon I don't cough with the ceylon cinnamon it seems to be a finer powder and its flavour is very very smooth I LIKE IT A LOT!
When the cooler weather hits pop a slither of ginger into your tea if you like to help give the body some warmth but once again it's a strong flavour so just a little.
