Weight loss choices

So how do you lose weight and keep it off?

Well it comes down to making a choice!

You will get to a point when you are tired of struggling with your weight, it hits you like an epiphany, and not a happy one.

Maybe it's the 200th time you have stood in the shopping centre change rooms, and seen yourself from every angle back, front, side and cried because you weren't really aware of just how big you gotten until now. Or maybe it happens at home when you go to put on your fav already relaxed jeans and they don't fit. Perhaps it's a snide comment from a loved one that makes you acknowledge " whoa I have to do something".

It does not matter how the realization hits, it just has to hit. It is not until you are really, really ready to seriously DO SOMETHING that you will be able to.

The choice is that it is time to make some changes, what you have done until now has only served to keep you in the same place and " If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you have always got - Henry Ford.

I struggled with my weight after having my daughter, I tried, I did! I could stay on a diet for a grand total of 3 days and by the end of the three days I was a sobbing mess. Tired, hungry and craving all the foods I had removed from my "normal eating pattern" I would return to my food passion with gusto, and boy do I mean gusto.

I was compelled to eat, I had no control, I could not stop myself from eating and I could not limit the amount I ate. It was nothing for me to eat a large box of Cadbury Favourites', they are just little pieces after all, then a large bag of Red Rock Deli chips, washed down with a litre of solo. Followed by half a tub of Connoisseur Cafe Grande ice cream with caramel syrup and The Cheesecake Factory caramel mud cake - at least 1/4 of the cake per slice of course. And that was just snacks, the thing was I ate like this before my daughter and never had to worry about my weight too much.

Now granted I didn't eat all of those things every day that was just a binge day but I did eat junk food every day, so, WWWWHAT happened?

I have heard and known many women and men who say once kids came on board life becomes centred on food, time poor and their bodies changed. Now I am not disputing that hormones change a women's body, carrying a life in you and delivering babies does indeed make changes, life does get busy for both parents, but there is also an element of responsibility.

One of the first changes you have to make is owning it. Taking responsibility for yourself and your choices has become a lost art in today's "it's not my fault, it's my addiction that made me do it society." We are provided with an "out" in almost everything in life these days. It's not my fault obesity runs in my family, I was a spoilt child and allowed to eat what I wanted, I don't know how to stop, It's the hormones, I'm too busy to prepare food or exercise. These are all excuses. Some are medical and true granted but they are still excuses.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES!

We humans are capable of anything we set our minds to.

I know it's hard, I have lived it. I don't live a perfect life I often fall off the righteous life band wagon and have to reassess and re-engage with my eating and exercise lifestyle. But I have done it and if I can anyone can.

Your journey actually starts in your head!

Make the choice.
