Question marks

As a nutritionist, one of the most common questions I get asked is, "which is the best diet I can go on to lose weight?"

My answer, none!

Ahhh yes, I see I have confused you even more.

I like to use the acronym K.I.S.S when it comes to my nutrition and weight loss advice. Keep it Simple Stupid is a design principal that states that most systems work best if they are kept simple. Guess what, your body is a system that works best when things are kept simple!

The current focus on obesity and its effects on our health havs stimulated a mass of information on food, nutrients and diets. This is not entirely a bad thing, but unfortunately, not an altogether good thing either. It has created a plethora of fact and fiction, and it is often hard to know which is which! Couple that, with the popularity of gossip magazine diet advice which is usually centered on a celebrity who's looking hot in 6 seconds because of the "latest" diet technique, and you get mass confusion. For many of us, it easier to just give up!

Science as we know it is not exact, it is ever forever changing it's mind what's right and what's wrong, first potatoes are good then they are bad, too many eggs increase your cholesterol and then they don't. It can be confusing, huh! Science can be contradictory and confusing but it’s where I look for my answers and encourage others to do the same.

It is my belief and experience that diets don't work and only serve to make you fatter!

Will you lose weight on a diet YES, but once you stop the diet and return to your "normal" eating pattern, will you keep the weight off.

NO!

The best advice I can give for weight loss and lifelong health is to make lifestyle changes.

Want to know how to achieve this?
